Unlimited OCR vs DeepSeek OCR: Long Documents vs Page-Level OCR

Both are open OCR models, and Unlimited OCR v1 was built on a DeepSeek-OCR baseline. This page compares design and setup, not measured accuracy.

Free trial: 1 document a day (up to 3 pages, 10 MB), no account needed. The exact model is shown on every result. Paid plans coming soon. The free trial currently runs the Unlimited-OCR 2 model.

Quick Answer

Unlimited OCR 2 is designed for very long documents parsed in one pass; DeepSeek-OCR reads documents page by page with compressed visual tokens. We have not measured either model, so this is a design comparison.

Architecture and Context Length

Unlimited OCR v1 used DeepSeek-OCR as its baseline and added R-SWA with a 32K context (paper). Version 2 uses SR-SWA with a fixed set of working reference tokens. DeepSeek-OCR 2 was released in January 2026 (paper).

Long Documents (Model Claims)

According to the model card, Unlimited OCR 2 keeps per-step decoding latency and memory nearly constant as documents grow (model card). This is a claim about the model, not a promise about LongDoc OCR.

Hardware and Setup

Both models need a GPU to self-host. The Unlimited OCR 2 developer tested on an NVIDIA A800-80GB. Check each project's documentation for its current hardware requirements.

Ecosystem

Unlimited OCR 2: Transformers and SGLang; GGUF needs a patched llama.cpp. Unlimited OCR v1 also supports vLLM. For DeepSeek-OCR serving options, see its GitHub repository.

Benchmarks (Self-Reported)

Published scores for both models are reported by their developers and have not been independently verified. We quote none here.

Which One Should You Use?

We have not measured either model, so we do not pick a winner. If you plan to self-host, run both on a sample of your own documents and compare the output before you decide.

Don't Want to Self-Host?

The free trial currently runs the Unlimited-OCR 2 model. Free trial: 1 document a day (up to 3 pages, 10 MB), no account needed. The exact model is shown on every result. Paid plans coming soon. Skip self-hosting and extract text online.
